Job Summary
Guide elementary-age participants through sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning activities at a Before and After-School Enrichment program, while teaching teamwork and social-emotional skills. Supervise groups to ensure health, safety, and positive experiences, and provide guidance to staff overseeing these activities. Implement culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the YMCA's Youth Development goals. Communicate confidential, evaluative information with parents and adhere to policies regarding medical, disciplinary, and emergency procedures. Maintain site cleanliness, prepare snacks, and attend required meetings and trainings. This part-time onsite role begins August 24 at Thurgood Marshall, Bailey Gatzert, or Sand Point Elementary, with hours from 6:45 am until the start of school or end of school, depending on the location.
Required Qualifications
- 16 years of age or older
- 1-2 years' experience with children; camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying
- Ability to model and demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty
- Experience planning and implementing group activities
- High school diploma or equivalent, or be currently enrolled in high school or an equivalent education program
- Completion of minimum STARS required training
- CPR/First Aid Training
- Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERIT
- MMR Vaccination
- TB tests
Desired Qualifications
- 18 or older is preferred
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
- Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful
