Job Summary
Guide elementary age participants through sports, arts, STEM, and hands-on learning activities at a Before and After-School Enrichment program, teaching teamwork and social emotional learning while encouraging skill building and fun. Supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety, provide guidance to staff, and professionally communicate with parents regarding daily activities. Implement culturally relevant curriculum aligned with YMCA Youth Development goals, maintain site cleanliness, and prepare snacks as needed. Attend required staff meetings and trainings, including CPR/First Aid and STARS. This onsite part-time role at Lakeland Hills Elementary begins August 24, with hours varying from 6:45 am to the start of school and end of school to 6 pm.
Required Qualifications
- 16 years of age or older
- 1-2 years' experience with children; camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying
- Ability to model and demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility and honesty
- Experience planning and implementing group activities
- High school diploma or equivalent, or be currently enrolled in high school or an equivalent education program
- Completion of minimum STARS required training
- CPR/First Aid Training
- Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERIT
- MMR Vaccination
- TB tests
Desired Qualifications
- 18 or older
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
- Ability to speak any language in addition to English
