Job Summary
Supervise children ages 5-12 during recreational, educational, and character-building activities while ensuring safety and enforcing emergency protocols. Lead diverse programming including sports, arts, and STEM, managing group dynamics to foster teamwork and resolve conflicts. Guide behavior through positive reinforcement and emotional support, communicating progress to parents and staff. Participate in mandatory training, background checks, and professional development sessions. Work various shifts including nights and weekends during peak seasons, meeting all child care health and safety qualifications.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Minimum qualifications for 'Lead Teacher' as defined by the VA Department of Education Division of Child Care Health and Safety
- Good character and reputation
- CPR/First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire
- Completes all pre-employment requirements including background checks
- Adequate speaking, hearing and writing skills appropriate for interacting with children
- Ability to be on time, every time for scheduled shifts
- Physically able to successfully complete required certifications
- Ability to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, push, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in outside weather conditions, exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions
- Attention to detail and multi-tasking
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to work night and weekend hours to meet program needs
- Satisfactory results to meet minimum requirements of the position (criminal background, reference checks, E-Verify, drug test, driver's license record, Child Protective Services Check)
