Job Summary
Coordinate daily activities and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans while monitoring safety for school-aged children before and after school. Act as a role model, develop positive relationships with staff and families, and maintain participant records in accordance with department requirements. Ensure the safety and cleanliness of learning spaces, follow emergency procedures, and attend all required staff meetings and trainings. Maintain appropriate communication and uphold YMCA core values while engaging with diverse populations.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Completed high school or equivalent
- Completion of at least one course in school-age growth and development (credit or non-credit) within 2 months of hire
- Ability and willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (if applicable), Mandated Reporter, Wisconsin Child Care Registry certification, and additional non-credit coursework (as needed)
- Sincere interest and ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others
- Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Exhibit the core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors
- Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children
- Must see and hear well enough to keep children safe
- Must be able to engage in physical activity with children
- Must be able and willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (if applicable), Mandated Reporter, Wisconsin Child Care Registry certification, and additional non-credit coursework (as needed)
Desired Qualifications
