Job Summary
The Before and After School Care Instructor is responsible for coordinating daily activities for school-aged children, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Key responsibilities include implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans, maintaining participant records, and upholding safety and cleanliness in learning spaces. The role requires establishing positive relationships with children and families, following emergency procedures, and adhering to department requirements. Candidates must possess high school education, meet licensing requirements, and complete necessary certifications. Physical demands include the ability to lift 40 lbs and engage in activities with children.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have completed high school or equivalent.
- Must meet all school age licensing requirements including the completion of at least one course in school-age growth and development within 2 months of hire.
- Must be able and willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, Abusive Head Trauma, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome certification, and additional non-credit coursework.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.
- Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Exhibit the core values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in a licensed early learning program is preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
