Job Summary
Supervise and engage youth ages 4-13 in Before and After School Care, 4K Wrap, Camp, and School's Out Fun Day programs by developing age-appropriate lesson plans and maintaining direct group supervision. Actively participate in daily activities, ensuring safety, guiding behavior, and preventing harm while collaborating with site supervisors, teachers, and school district staff to align programming with district values. Maintain clean, organized learning environments and participant records, resolve parent complaints professionally, and adhere to all YMCA policies, emergency procedures, and regulatory requirements. Travel to multiple sites as needed and fulfill camp counselor duties during summer months. Maintain current certifications including CPR, First Aid, and AED.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- 240 hours of experience in an approved education setting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- School age licensing requirements
- Completion of at least one course in school-age growth and development
- Ability to obtain CPR certification
- Ability to obtain First Aid certification
- Ability to obtain AED certification
- Ability to obtain Abusive Head Trauma certification
- Ability to obtain Mandated Reporter certification
- Ability to obtain Wisconsin Registry certification
- Ability to obtain additional non-credit coursework as needed
- Sincere interest and ability to comprehend needs and develop positive outcomes in children from diverse populations
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others
- Ability to relate effectively with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Ability to travel to multiple sites in a workday
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors
- Ability to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children
- Ability to see and hear well enough to keep children safe
- Ability to engage in physical activity with children
- Physical, mental, and emotional ability to provide responsible care for all children independently and with other employees
- Ability to obtain current training and certification requirements
