Job Summary
Supervise students in the school-based child care program under the guidance of a qualified leader while developing and promoting good community relations among various community and school clientele. Complete all tasks assigned by the director, assistant director, or leader, and follow procedures as stated in the ECS Procedures Manual. Participate in structured and unstructured activities with students, maintain safe conditions, and enforce program discipline policies. Assist with equipment maintenance, storage, and repair, and contribute ideas for enrichment activities and curriculum. Demonstrate excellent communication with parents, students, school staff, and coworkers while following district policies and goals.
Required Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age
- Work directly under the supervision of the director, assistant director or leader
- Complete at least 15 clock hours of training each year of employment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within thirty (30) days
- Demonstrate an ability to work with school age children
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire
- Light work strength level (lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds)
- Occasional lifting, pulling, and/or pushing
- Frequent bending, reaching, climbing
- Visual concentration
- Squatting
- Working with others
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in a paid licensed child-care program, teaching assistant/para-educator, or licensed teaching
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement
