Job Summary
Plan and implement classroom curriculum, provide homework assistance, and communicate information to families. Maintain a safe, healthy, warm, and engaging environment while serving as a liaison between school teachers and parents to support students' academic and social-emotional success. Ensure adherence to EEC licensing standards, promote inclusive culture, and deliver age-appropriate activities fostering cognitive growth, self-awareness, and character development. Conduct smooth transitions, manage program space, and assist with assessments using positive guidance methods.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three months of experience working with school age children
- Six months of experience working with school age children
- Three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program
- Nine months of experience with school age children
- Experience of a minimum of 12 hours per week
- Keeps safety of children as first priority
- Emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with the children, parents, and early education staff
- Uses positive and constructive methods of child guidance
- Adheres to the rules, regulations and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Greater Boston, the branch location, and the Department of Early Education and Care
- Ensures supervision of children
- Manages smooth transitions to promote safety and appropriate behavior
- Works with the Site Director in the design of the program space
- Maintains facility and supplies
- Assists the Site Director with relevant assessments
- Provides children with a well-balanced curriculum
- Supports social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development
