Job Summary

Plan and implement classroom curriculum, provide homework assistance, and communicate information to families under the supervision of the Site Director. Maintain a safe, healthy, warm, and engaging environment that adheres to EEC licensing standards while serving as a liaison between school day teachers and parents. Ensure programs meet community needs consistent with the YMCA mission, focusing on cognitive growth, self-awareness, and character development through age-appropriate activities. Conduct smooth transitions, manage facility supplies, and assist with progress reports and program self-assessments to support student social and emotional success.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three months of experience working with school age children
  • Six months of experience working with school age children
  • Three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program
  • Nine months of experience with school age children
  • Three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program
  • Minimum of 12 hours per week
  • Keeps safety of children as first priority
  • Emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with the children, parents, and early education staff
  • Uses positive and constructive methods of child guidance
  • Adheres to the rules, regulations and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Greater Boston, the branch location, and the Department of Early Education and Care
  • Ensures supervision of children
  • Manages smooth transitions
  • Promotes appropriate behavior
  • Works with the Site Director in the design of the program space
  • Maintains facility and supplies
  • Works with the Site Director with relevant assessments
  • Provides children with a well-balanced curriculum
