Job Summary
Plan and implement classroom curriculum, provide homework assistance, and communicate information to families while maintaining a safe, healthy, and engaging environment. Serve as a liaison between the school day teacher and parents to support the academic and social-emotional success of students. Ensure adherence to EEC licensing standards, promote inclusive culture, and conduct age-appropriate activities that foster cognitive growth, self-awareness, and character development. Manage smooth transitions, supervise children, and assist the Site Director with program design, facility maintenance, and progress reports.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three months of experience working with school age children
- Six months of experience working with school age children
- Three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program
- Nine months of experience with school age children
- Supervised experience at a school age child care program
- Minimum of 12 hours per week
- Keeps safety of children as first priority
- Emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with the children, parents, and early education staff
- Uses positive and constructive methods of child guidance
- Adheres to the rules, regulations and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Greater Boston, the branch location, and the Department of Early Education and Care
- Ensures supervision of children
- Manages smooth transitions
- Promotes appropriate behavior
- Works with the Site Director in the design of the program space
- Maintains facility and supplies
- Works with the Site Director with relevant assessments
- Provides children with a well-balanced curriculum
