Job Summary

Plan and implement classroom curriculum, provide homework assistance, and communicate information to families under Site Director supervision. Maintain a safe, healthy, warm, and engaging environment while ensuring adherence to EEC licensing standards and inclusive practices. Serve as a liaison between school day teachers and parents to support students' academic and social-emotional success through age-appropriate activities fostering cognitive, social, and character development. Manage smooth transitions, supervise children, and assist with program assessments including progress reports and parent surveys. Work to position the YMCA as the childcare program of choice for families and school districts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three months of experience working with school age children
  • Six months of experience working with school age children
  • Three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program
  • Nine months of experience with school age children
  • Three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program
  • Minimum of 12 hours per week
  • Every block of 50 hours counts for one month
  • Keeps safety of children as first priority
  • Emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with the children, parents, and early education staff
  • Uses positive and constructive methods of child guidance
  • Ensures that all staff does the same
  • Adheres to the rules, regulations and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Greater Boston, the branch location, and the Department of Early Education and Care
  • Ensures supervision of children
  • Manages smooth transitions

  • Works with the Site Director in the design of the program space
  • Maintains facility and supplies
  • Works with the Site Director with relevant assessments
