Job Summary
Plan and implement classroom curriculum, provide homework assistance, and communicate information to families while maintaining a safe, healthy, warm, engaging, and attractive environment. Serve as a liaison between the school day teacher and parent to support the academic and social emotional success of students. Ensure adherence to EEC licensing standards and perpetuate an inclusive culture through age-appropriate activities that foster cognitive skills, self-awareness, peer relationships, and character development. Conduct yourself as a caring, responsible, and respectful role model for colleagues, program participants, and families. Prioritize the safety of children and manage smooth transitions to promote appropriate behavior. Work with the Site Director to design program space, maintain facilities, and assist with assessments via progress reports and parent surveys.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three months of experience working with school age children
- Six months of experience working with school age children
- Three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program
- Nine months of experience with school age children
- Three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program
- Minimum of 12 hours per week
- Every block of 50 hours counts for one month
- Keeps safety of children as first priority
- Emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with the children, parents, and early education staff
- Uses positive and constructive methods of child guidance
- Ensures that all staff does the same
- Adheres to the rules, regulations and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Greater Boston
- Adheres to the rules, regulations and procedures set forth by the branch location
- Adheres to the rules, regulations and procedures set forth by the Department of Early Education and Care
- Ensures supervision of children
- Manages smooth transitions
