Job Summary
Plan and implement classroom curriculum, provide homework assistance, and communicate information to families. Maintain a safe, healthy, warm, and engaging environment while serving as a liaison between school day teachers and parents to support students' academic and social-emotional success. Ensure adherence to EEC licensing standards, promote inclusive culture, and deliver age-appropriate activities fostering cognitive skills, self-awareness, peer relationships, and character development. Keep children's safety as the first priority, manage smooth transitions, and assist the Site Director with program space design, facility maintenance, and relevant assessments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three months of experience working with school age children
- Six months of experience working with school age children
- Three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program
- Nine months of experience with school age children
- Three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program
- Minimum of 12 hours per week
- Keeps safety of children as first priority
- Emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with the children, parents, and early education staff
- Uses positive and constructive methods of child guidance
- Adheres to the rules, regulations and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Greater Boston, the branch location, and the Department of Early Education and Care
- Ensures supervision of children
- Manages smooth transitions
- Promotes safety and appropriate behavior
- Works with the Site Director in the design of the program space
- Maintains facility and supplies
- Works with the Site Director with relevant assessments
- Provides children with a well-balanced curriculum
- Supports social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development
