Job Summary
Lead on-site activity leadership and curriculum implementation for before and after school programs across Monroe County sites. Plan daily activities, prepare materials, and distribute snacks while maintaining a safe environment for children ages 5-12. Assist the Site Coordinator in managing records, reports, and recruitment efforts, ensuring compliance with NYS OCFS regulations and YMCA mission values. Implement emergency procedures and respond to safety issues, including lifting objects up to 40 lbs and working in all weather conditions. Maintain required certifications and attend mandatory training sessions.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Have one year experience working with children under 13 years of age
- Possess a general knowledge and understanding of the YMCA, its goals, and its mission
- Possess knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in assisting daily activities
- Possess knowledge of age appropriate activities and expectations of children ages 5-12
- Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting
- Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations
- Ability to move around the room to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical and emotional needs
- Ability to lift young children and objects (food baskets and supplies) up to 40 lbs
- Ability to work in all elements
- May be required to move to another site if requested by Director/Multi-Site Coordinator/Site Coordinator
