Job Summary
Implement hands-on enrichment programming and reinforce learning for students in before and after school settings. Provide individual or small group support, including behavior intervention plans, while actively monitoring students in classrooms, cafeterias, gyms, playgrounds, buses, and during field trips. Assist site leaders with de-escalation strategies, front office coverage, and student dismissal verification. Ensure activity areas are cleaned and organized, and maintain confidentiality regarding student support. Obtain and maintain required CPR and First Aid certifications, and adhere to all district safety protocols and licensing standards. Work Monday through Friday from 6:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with some flexibility for arrival between 2:30 and 4:00 p.m.
Required Qualifications
- 16 years of age
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with students and staff
- Ability to demonstrate patience and flexibility
- Ability to take direction and a willingness to collaborate as part of a team
- Ability to implement procedures and support daily operations
- Must demonstrate reliable attendance
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, climb, reach, drive, stand, and walk
- Must maintain emotional control under stress
- Must obtain and maintain required certifications, including adult and child CPR and First Aid
- Must adhere to safety protocols and policies established by Ankeny Community School District and the Before & After School Program
- Must adhere to all District policies
- Must follow legal and ethical standards related to student support
- Must participate in ongoing professional development to ensure compliance with Iowa Department of Health & Human Services minimum standards
- Must obtain and maintain Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
- Must be available for No-School Day Camps (6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)
- Must be available for Extended Break Camp (winter, spring) (6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)
- Must be available for Inclement Weather Program Days
- Must be available for some evening and weekend hours on a limited basis
- Must be able to perform additional duties as assigned
