Job Summary
Lead and supervise a group of children in after-school programs for grades 6th through 8th, ensuring their safety, welfare, and positive engagement while maintaining accurate attendance and headcount. Establish nurturing relationships with students and parents, communicate progress to supervisors, and enforce strict safety protocols including immediate reporting of suspected abuse and adherence to medication and allergy policies. Assist in organizing special interest activities, managing facility cleanliness, and maintaining equipment inventory while completing required training and background screenings. Work flexible schedules that may include weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations across multiple middle schools in the Orlando area.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications
- Child Abuse Prevention training
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays as needed
- Must be willing to work an on-call schedule rotation as required
- Must exhibit patience and understanding
- Must be alert at all times, keeping safety in mind
- Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities
- Must be capable of working under pressure in a somewhat disruptive environment
- Must complete a successful employment verification and background screening, which includes a DCF Level 2 Background Check
Desired Qualifications
- one year or more of college
- Previous experience working with children preferably in an after school setting or childcare center
