Job Summary
Provide guidance and secure safety for all children in the After School Program under the School Age Child Care Director. Implement programs designed by the Director to ensure children reach their fullest potential while incorporating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Assist with daily arrivals and dismissals, ensuring accurate attendance records and notifying the Director of discrepancies. Supervise and interact with children during activities indoors and outdoors, including trips, walks, playground time, lunch, and pool areas, maintaining complete awareness of child locations. Implement group activities, set up necessary materials, and motivate children while embracing core values. Discipline children appropriately using positive discipline guidelines and meet with parents to promote program content. Ensure all health and safety guidelines are strictly adhered to, including emergency procedures and accident reporting. Manage equipment and supplies, and handle late-night responsibilities such as room cleanup, cabinet locking, and directing parents on late fees. Adhere to YMCA House Rules and attend all mandatory trainings.
Required Qualifications
- 18+ years of age
- experience working with children in a childcare or related setting
- Ability to work as part of a team with a common goal of every afterschool care participant reaching their fullest potential
- Some flexibility to have change of hours to reflect ½ day closings, holidays and morning care if needed
- Must be on time for hours scheduled or find replacement for hours not able to work
- During emergency closings staff are responsible to call the YMCA as soon as possible to be certain of what the program hours will be for that day and what coverage arrangements are being made
