Job Summary
Supervise young children during activities, meals, and transitions while enforcing safety protocols and emergency procedures. Assist Program Leads in preparing developmentally appropriate curriculum covering cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language domains. Engage children in meaningful play to foster creativity and critical thinking, providing individualized support and positive behavior guidance. Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and leadership regarding child progress. Maintain CPR/First Aid certification and complete all pre-employment requirements including background checks. Work under the supervision of a qualified Program Lead at various YMCA locations, with flexibility for night and weekend hours during peak seasons.
Required Qualifications
- Shall be at least 16 years of age
- Shall work under the supervision of an individual qualified to be a Program Lead
- Staff shall be in good character and reputation
- CPR/First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire
- Completes all pre-employment requirements including background checks
- Adequate speaking, hearing and writing skills appropriate for interacting with children
- Ability to be on time, every time for scheduled shifts
- Must be physically able to successfully complete required certifications
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
