Job Summary
Bed Management Coordinator coordinates procedural and surgical bed placement, admissions (direct, ED, and transfers), and unit-to-unit transfers to optimize bed availability. Works with the Patient Flow Leader and care teams to determine appropriate placement, communicates with hospital census and bed needs, and evaluates ED admission requests and pre-/post-procedural scheduling. Applies the Nursing Process to patient care, ensures culture- and data-informed decision-making, and supports interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate bed placement, enabling timely throughput, providing clear shift reporting, and aligning care plans with evidence-based standards. Requires nursing education (associates or diploma, RN licensure) and involved clinical experience in a hospital setting; Epic and 3M experience are preferred, with BLS certification and CP/qualification as noted. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, effective communication, and proactive problem-solving within a hospital environment.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-Preferred
- RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact
- BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting is required.
- Epic and 3M experience is preferred.
