Job Summary
Bed Management Coordinator duties include coordinating all procedural and surgical bed placements for priority and accuracy, coordinating admissions (direct, ED, and inter-hospital transfers), and managing unit-to-unit transfers to open beds as needed. Responsibilities require daily communication with bed meeting members, applying clinical knowledge to determine the right bed for the right patient at the right time, and evaluating schedules for pre/post-procedure placement and appropriate communication to units. The role involves evaluating ED admissions for placement, processing information from physicians for direct admits, and collaborating with Patient Flow Leader and patient access services. It also covers facilitating emergent placements, coordinating with cath lab/CVOR teams for calls and bed placement, maintaining ongoing communication with leadership about census and bed requirements, and delivering care via the nursing process with evidence-based practice. Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and change-management skills are essential, along with ensuring patient-centered care and adherence to policies and standards. The position requires RN licensure with an associate's degree or nursing diploma (bachelor's preferred) and a minimum of 2 years hospital nursing experience; Epic and 3M experience are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-Preferred
- RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact
- BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting is required.
- Epic and 3M experience is preferred
