Job Summary
Bed Management Coordinator coordinates procedural and surgical bed placement, admissions (direct admissions, ED, and hospital-to-hospital transfers), and unit-to-unit transfers to open appropriate beds. Maintains daily communication with bed-meeting members of the hospital census and bed needs, applying critical thinking and clinical knowledge to determine the right placement for each patient. Collaborates across departments to evaluate procedures/schedules for patient placement pre- and post-procedure, manages ED admission requests, and guides patient-flow with care teams, including coordination with Cath Lab/CVOR and critical care departments. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care, ensuring patient-centered outcomes while maintaining effective communication, teamwork, and adherence to policies. Requires nursing degrees (associates, diploma, or bachelor's preferred), RN licensure, and BLS; at least 2 years of hospital nursing experience; familiarity with Epic and 3M is preferred. This role emphasizes data-driven practice, evidence-based care, and collaboration to optimize bed utilization and patient flow across the continuum of care.
Required Qualifications
- Required Minimum Education: Associates Nursing or Diploma Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-Preferred
- Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact; BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
- Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting; Epic and 3M experience is preferred
