Job Summary
Conduct resident haircuts, colors, and permanents while maintaining individualized care schedules and weekly consultations with the Activity Manager. Manage beauty shop inventory, unpack supplies, and report monthly usage while ensuring all licenses and permits are posted visibly. Follow physician orders for special shampoos and adhere to strict sanitation and safety protocols for storing hazardous substances. Escort residents to the shop, monitor facility layout for safety, and respond to emergency procedures. Work in a 24-hour residential care environment serving disabled and cognitively impaired residents.
Required Qualifications
- Valid license by the Cosmetology/ Barbering Examination Board
- Freedom from illegal use of drugs
- Freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
- No prior finding by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff, volunteers and residents through verbal or written means
- Ability to interact appropriately with individuals who are cognitively and / or physically impaired
- Knowledge of emergency and disaster procedures of facility
- Sufficient mobility, and strength to move freely through the building
- Ability to be physically active, requiring bending, stretching, reaching, pushing, and considerable walking
