Job Summary
Plan, organize, and conduct regular practice sessions while developing game strategies and teaching fundamental skills to student-athletes. Supervise athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips, monitoring academic progress to support the balance between athletics and academics. Promote discipline, responsibility, and good sportsmanship while ensuring compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations. Manage team equipment and uniforms, collaborate with the athletic director on scheduling and budget, and maintain open communication with parents. Provide mentorship on personal development and college opportunities, enforce codes of conduct, and work evenings, weekends, and during school breaks as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Prior coaching experience at the high school or competitive youth level
- Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate
- Valid FHSAA certification
- Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and during school breaks as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Head coaching experience in the assigned or a closely related sport at the high school level
- Experience mentoring youth and fostering a positive team culture
- Familiarity with academic eligibility requirements for student-athletes
