Job Summary
Establish and maintain a safe recreational environment on Randwick City Council's beaches by providing an effective lifeguarding service. Make informed decisions involving critical incidents, natural conditions, and weather while communicating effectively with the public to control large numbers of people and ensure compliance with beach regulations. Deliver advanced resuscitation, oxygen therapy, first aid, and emergency care for suspected spinal injuries. Maintain high physical fitness and demonstrate proficiency in surf lifesaving or professional lifeguarding across diverse open surf beach conditions. Work as part of a team using strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to enhance the service image of the Council.
Required Qualifications
- NSW Waterways PWC Licence
- Bronze Medallion (Surf) and/or Certificate II in public safety (Aquatic Rescue)
- Class C Drivers Licence
- Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy (HLTAID015)
- Provide First Aid (HLTAID011)
- Provide emergency care for suspected spinal injury (PUAEME007)
- Experience and proficiency in surf lifesaving or professional lifeguarding and experience and knowledge of open surf beaches in a wide range of conditions
- High level of physical fitness and health
- Demonstrated ability and successful experience in working as part of a team
- High-level interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills with a diverse range of people and groups
- Current Working with Children Check
- All certificates must meet national accreditation standards
- Ability to attend Fitness Test and panel interview
