Job Summary
Assist certified teachers in providing instructional support services directly to students within a PreK-12th grade classroom environment. Accommodate student needs at the point of service, supervise students between programs, and monitor and record student processes including attendance and grades. Implement behavioral management strategies, assist with testing and program evaluation, and instruct individual students using objectives developed under teacher supervision. Prepare training materials, maintain supplies, and document care delivered per individualized education plans. Establish rapport with students, employees, and the community while adhering to local, state, and federal laws. Perform non-instructional duties such as monitoring hallways, lunchrooms, and grounds as directed, and substitute for the teacher in emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or passing score on ParaPro test
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of, experience with and ability to deal with students in PreK-12th grades
- Current CPR and first aid certification or ability to obtain certification
