Baylor Registered Nurse

The Baylor RN role provides professional nursing care to patients, supporting maximum physical, emotional, or social function. Responsibilities include completing initial assessments, documenting data for admission, involving patient support systems in care planning, advocating for patients, ensuring consent and rights are respected, conducting patient education, administering medications safely (including transcribing orders and monitoring for adverse effects), and updating treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The RN participates in care conferences, develops age-appropriate interventions, ensures unit safety and adherence to EMTALA, and contributes to performance improvement and department objectives. Education requirements include a BSN preferred and a valid RN license in the state of employment; CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire with annual refreshers. Prior psychiatric experience is preferred, and the role may require QMP designation and ongoing regulatory training.
