Job Summary
Special Education (Resource) Teacher at Bastrop High School provides specially designed instruction aligned to Louisiana standards, develops and monitors IEPs in IDEA/504 compliance, delivers small-group and individualized literacy and math interventions, implements PBIS, FBA, and BIP, supports self-regulation and executive functioning, and fosters social-emotional learning; collaborates with general education and families, maintains compliant documentation, participates in PLCs and professional development, and ensures trauma-informed, inclusive classroom practices within a Title I setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Special Education or eligibility through an LDOE-approved pathway
- Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards and specially designed instruction
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and IEP compliance requirements
- Demonstrated skills in differentiation, behavior management, and data-driven instruction
- Ability to support self-regulation, coping strategies, and positive behavior skills
- Proficiency with instructional technology and student data systems
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success
- Candidates enrolled in an approved Teacher Preparation Program must provide proof of enrollment, coursework, and Praxis scores (if applicable)
