Job Summary
High School Science Teacher responsible for delivering standards-aligned instruction in Chemistry and/or Physical Science to grades 9–12 at Bastrop High School (Title I). Role focuses on fostering scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and critical thinking; planning and implementing rigorous, inquiry-based lessons; facilitating hands-on laboratory investigations; integrating mathematics and literacy into science; using formative/summative assessments; differentiating instruction; maintaining a safe, engaged classroom aligned with PBIS; integrating instructional technology; collaborating in Professional Learning Communities; and ensuring compliance with FERPA, IDEA, and Section 504 while engaging families and stakeholders. Employment type is Full-Time, 9-Month Contract, with salary determined by the MPSD Teacher Pay Scale and state guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Science or eligibility through an LDOE-approved pathway
- Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards for Science (LSSS)
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and equipment use
- Proficiency with instructional technology and data systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Candidates enrolled in an approved Teacher Preparation Program must provide proof of enrollment, coursework, and Praxis scores (if applicable)
- Demonstrated skills in instructional planning, classroom management, and data-driven instruction
