Job Summary
Middle School Science Teacher for grades 7-8 at Bastrop High School (Title I campus) in Morehouse Parish, delivering standards-aligned science instruction based on Louisiana Student Standards for Science (LSSS). Responsibilities include designing and implementing inquiry-based, hands-on learning experiences; promoting scientific reasoning, experimentation, and data analysis; using formative and summative assessments to guide instruction; differentiating instruction to meet diverse learner needs; maintaining a positive, structured PBIS-aligned classroom; integrating technology, lab activities, and real-world applications; collaborating through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs); ensuring compliance with FERPA, IDEA, and Section 504; and engaging families and stakeholders to support student success. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Science (Grades 6–12) or eligibility; preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree and 1–3 years of teaching experience in Title I or diverse populations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Science (Grades 6–12 or appropriate certification area) or eligibility through an LDOE-approved pathway
- Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards for Science (LSSS)
- Proficiency with instructional technology and student data systems
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to equity, student achievement, and continuous professional growth
- Candidates enrolled in an approved Teacher Preparation Program must provide proof of enrollment, completed coursework, and official Praxis scores (if applicable)
