Job Summary
The Basketball Specialist is responsible for developing and facilitating sports activities, specifically focused on basketball for youth ages 10 to 19. This role includes planning basketball skills sessions, implementing game play and tournaments, and engaging participants in organized activities. Key responsibilities also involve administrative tasks, monitoring youth interactions for safety, and serving as a role model. Required qualifications include two years of academic preparation in a relevant field and work experience in a youth service agency. Strong communication skills and previous basketball coaching experience are essential.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of academic preparation in physical education, exercise science sports management or other equivalent training
- A minimum of two years of work experience in a non-profit youth or social service agency with supervisory experience
Desired Qualifications
- Previous basketball coaching/playing experience
- Demonstrated skills and competency as an instructor and coach
- Understanding of conflict resolution, mediation and mentoring concepts
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
