Job Summary
Design and lead training sessions focused on basketball fundamentals including shooting, dribbling, passing, defense, and teamwork. Implement drills to improve agility, speed, endurance, and overall performance. Organize and supervise competitive games and tournaments, while accompanying participants to external and professional-level events for coaching and strategy insights. Actively recruit youth aged 11 to 18, collaborate with outreach teams, and maintain clear communication with staff and supervisors. Ensure equipment is properly maintained and foster a safe, inclusive environment for all participants. CPR certification is required. Work Saturdays from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM (up to 5 hours/week) at 876 Schenck Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, reporting to the Director of Youth Services.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience coaching basketball, preferably with youth aged 11-18
- Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, punctual, and reliable
- Passion for youth development and mentorship
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities
- CPR certification or willingness to become certified
