Job Summary
Officiate adult and youth sports programs including basketball, soccer, volleyball, and football under the supervision of the Sports Director. Stop play when necessary, explain violations consistently and fairly, and control all aspects of the game while demonstrating the YMCA philosophy. Report injuries immediately following safety procedures and manage large groups of varying ages. Attend staff meetings, trainings, and fundraising activities as designated. Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends across various Crossroads YMCA branches.
Required Qualifications
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid
- New Employee Orientation and online trainings required prior to the start of employment
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
- Must have a passion for learning, working with youth/families, and sports in general
- Desire and ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds
- Must have a high level of alertness, concentration, and initiative
- Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform job responsibilities
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to game situations and the physical ability to act swiftly in the event of an emergency situation
- Must demonstrate initiative and sound judgment
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum age 18 preferred
- Six months or more of related experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
