Job Summary
Conduct physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability at the plasma donation center. Build rapport with donors to ensure customer satisfaction while ensuring donor and staff confidentiality. Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events, providing education on general health and counseling regarding unacceptable test results. Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program and assist in staff training. Perform evaluations of illness history and medications to ensure continued donor suitability. Handle exposure to biological fluids and electrical equipment while wearing required protective gear for extreme cold conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a LPN, LVN, Paramedic, or EMT
- Current CPR certification
- Color perception/discrimination
- Near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Hearing acuity
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to work independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to handle exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
- Ability to handle exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to handle exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear
- Ability to work standing and sitting for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist of neck up from 1 to 2 hours per day
- Ability to make frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
- Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects
- Ability to make frequent foot movement; may squat, crouch or sit on one's heels on rare occasion
- Ability to occasionally walk, bends and twists at waist
- Ability to lift 15lbs with a maximum lift of 50lbs
- Ability to reach below shoulder height
