Job Summary
Basic Life Skills Paraprofessional provides direct classroom support under supervision to assist students with disabilities, reinforcing instructional programs, aiding in activities of daily living, supervising non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground), accompanying students on field trips, and supporting teachers with materials and parent communication. Requires collaboration with professional staff, attention to IEP objectives, and strong patience, empathy, and confidentiality to help maximize inclusion and learning for students with special needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of college level coursework (48 credits) or passing of the ParaPro Exam
- Prior experience working with special needs children desirable
