Job Summary
BASE Special Needs Assistant assists students with significant support needs (SSN) by providing specialized childcare, education, and recreational activities and supporting before/after school programming. Responsibilities include supervising SSN students during crafts, art, games and activities; assisting with daily routines (toilet, diapering, feeding, personal hygiene); managing medical needs (trachs, feeding tubes, catheterization, medication administration) and providing CPR/First Aid; sanitizing and cleaning learning spaces; communicating with parents, staff, and site leadership; opening/closing the building; preparing snacks; and creating new activities while ensuring student safety and attendance. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and ability to work in an environment with health/safety requirements; appropriate certifications and background checks completed per district policy.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Criminal background check
- CPR, First Aid and Universal Precautions certifications within 90 days
- Universal Precautions training within 3 months
