Job Summary
Manage the department unit response and placement to ensure efficient flow of emergency and non-emergency transports, handling incoming and outgoing telephone and radio transmissions. Operate MEDCOM radios, equipment, and telephones to support Virtua EMS Field Operations, receiving calls and relaying information to the chief or appropriate personnel. Enter responses and data into a computer-aided dispatch system, complete phone patches and transfers, and perform weekly and monthly radio testing in compliance with NJHERN regulations. Coordinate transportation of patients into and out of Virtua and contracted facilities, assist with MICU Field Operations, and act as a communications resource for disaster or high-profile incidents. Work a night shift (12-hour) part-time schedule in Pennsauken.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Previous EMS/911 dispatch experience preferred
- Knowledge of local EMS systems and EMS communications
- Certified as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic by the Commissioner of Health & Senior Services of the State of New Jersey preferred
- Public Safety Telecommunicator Basic Training Course within 6 months of hire
- Emergency Medical Dispatcher Training Course within 6 months of hire
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Training Program preferred
