Job Summary
Greet guests promptly, share the Hawkers story naturally, and make personalized beverage recommendations while monitoring bar top flow and service tickets. Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks following recipes, verify guest ID for responsible service, and restock the bar to maintain par levels. Keep the bar clean and sanitary, process payments accurately via POS, and complete all opening, running, and closing side work. Maintain a positive attitude under pressure, support team members, and remain flexible for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. This role requires Alcohol and Food Handlers certifications and physical stamina for a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Must meet the minimum age requirement to serve alcohol as mandated by local and state law (currently 21 in NC and VA; 18 in other markets — verify with your General Manager)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must have or be willing to obtain Alcohol Service Certification (e.g., TABC, RBS, or state equivalent)
- Must have or be willing to obtain a Food Handlers Certification
- Understanding of and commitment to OSHA and HACCP compliance standards
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, and reach above shoulder level for the duration of a shift
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
- Must be able to work at a sustained, fast pace in a high-noise, high-activity bar environment
Desired Qualifications
- Prior bartending or bar experience preferred
