Barn Manager

Job Summary
Oversee daily care of horses, cows, goats, and chickens, including feeding, watering, turnout, grooming, stall cleaning, and health monitoring. Maintain barns, pens, pastures, equipment, and storage areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety. Monitor animal behavior and welfare; coordinate veterinary visits, farrier services, vaccinations, and routine health checks. Manage feed, bedding, supplements, and supply inventory; place orders and track usage. Train and supervise ranch staff, volunteers, and program participants in safe animal handling and barn procedures. Develop and maintain daily schedules, chore lists, and care logs. Collaborate with program leaders to support therapeutic and educational activities for veterans and youth with special needs. Implement safety protocols to protect animals, staff, and participants in all areas of the ranch. Identify and address facility maintenance needs; coordinate with vendors or maintenance teams as required. Assist with planning and supporting special events, educational workshops, and community activities held at the ranch.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with horses and livestock, including daily care and basic health management
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to lead, supervise, and train diverse teams with patience and clarity
- Comfort working around individuals with special needs; supportive and inclusive mindset
- Physical ability to lift and perform strenuous barn tasks in all weather conditions
- Knowledge of farm safety, emergency procedures, and animal behavior
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in therapeutic, educational, or veteran support environments
- Background in ranch management or multi species livestock care
- First Aid/CPR certification
