Job Summary
Take customer orders, describe menu items, and suggest products to drive sales. Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, pastries, and cookies while educating guests on coffee beans and brewing methods. Clean preparation areas, sanitize utensils, and maintain equipment in working order. Operate the cash register/POS system to process payments accurately and follow all safety and security policies. Stock coffee supplies and ensure a safe, healthy work environment by adhering to sanitation regulations. Manage high-volume periods with a calm demeanor and perform other duties assigned by managers.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent education
- One year customer service experience
- Safe Server Alcohol & Food Handlers certification
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent customer relations skills
- Detail oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Basic computational ability
- Knowledgeable about basic function of Windows OS, MS Office, PMS, and POS
- Strong knowledge of drink preparation and applicable health standards
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F)
- Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to four (4) hours
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
- Ability to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity
- Hearing, smelling, tasting, and visual ability to observe and distinguish product quality and detect signs of emergency situations
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally
- Ability to work primarily with fingers to pick, pinch, type and carry out substantial movements (motions) of the wrists and hands
- Regular attendance in conformance with the standards
- Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy and collect accurate information to resolve conflicts
- Self-driven and able to work independently
- Exceptionally strong in issue resolution and proven analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
- Must be able to work in limited space and to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis
- Ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously
- Ability to maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events
Desired Qualifications
- One to three years food service experience
