Job Summary
Prepare and serve hot and cold coffee, blended drinks, and tea while customizing orders and educating customers about Onyx Coffee's flavor profiles and sustainable sourcing. Process payments accurately using POS systems, serve baked goods, and ensure service stations are stocked with paper products and beverage items. Clean and sanitize all equipment, utensils, dishes, and seating areas, while routinely checking temperatures in freezers, refrigerators, and heating units. Maintain a friendly attitude, manage multiple orders efficiently, and handle other related duties as assigned in a high-paced setting.
Required Qualifications
- Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures.
- 1-2 years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within hospitality or food service.
- CA Food Handler's Permit required.
- Flexibility to work nights and holidays as required by business needs.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with POS systems such as Toast, Square, Shopify or similar a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with ability to learn in house programs.
- Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
- Good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons.
- Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly.
- Experience working in both counter-service and full-service settings is a plus.
- Previous barista training or willingness to learn espresso and coffee preparation is preferred.
