Job Summary
Educate customers on premium coffee products, blends, and brewing techniques while serving menu items and baked goods with personalized attention. Safely handle hot and cold drinks, accurately ring sales orders, and manage cash registers. Greets guests by name, answers telephone inquiries, and proactively address service situations or complaints. Train new team members, maintain clean bar areas and storage rooms, and restock shelves. Report safety hazards, accidents, and operational inconsistencies to the manager on duty. Requires six months of specialty coffee experience and completion of Texas Coffee School classes.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of six months of specialty coffee experience
- Once hired, must have successfully completed the master espresso, bean and tea classes-Texas Coffee School
- Demonstrated ability to lead, communicate and train fellow team members according to company standards
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Regularly required to lift and/or move items up to 30 pounds
- Regularly required to handle food and hot beverages
- Works special events, as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in retail/specialty store preferred
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Well-organized and detail-oriented
- The barista has proven ability to provide quality customer service and demonstrated knowledge of coffee products, equipment, and menu products
- The lead barista has responsibility for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer
- He/she is also responsible for making a difference to our customers by educating them about our premium coffees
- Baristas are instrumental in building customer relationships and fostering a positive and friendly environment
- They also provide technical guidance to new team members and assist in the training program
- The barista fulfills any other duties management assigns and represents Hotel Cleveland in a professional manner
- All team members are expected to support the Guiding Principles and follow the employee handbook guidelines
