Job Summary
Greet customers warmly, learn their names, and deliver outstanding service by going the extra mile to ensure every visit is positive. Take orders at the counter and over the phone, assist with product inquiries, and prepare and replenish coffee shop items while monitoring freshness. Run the department register, process payments, check inventory, and maintain a clean, neat work area by removing trash and following safety standards. Work alongside teammates to ensure a smooth experience, handle special projects as needed, and maintain compliance with all company policies and dress codes.
Required Qualifications
- ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
- exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
- ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
- ability to follow written and verbal instructions with confidence
- ability to use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording
- ability to communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way
- ability to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop environment
- ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas
- ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties
- ability to maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
- ability to handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards at all times
- ability to check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
- ability to run the department register and process payments where applicable
- ability to remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department
- ability to work alongside teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer
- ability to assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
- ability to monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to stay ahead of daily needs
- ability to take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist with finding products and answering questions
- ability to prepare and replenish coffee shop products as needed throughout your shift
