Job Summary

Check job sheets and set up machines to operate mills, lathes, saws, punches, and tube benders. Load and unload materials, read blueprints and schematics, and apply measurements to parts. Maintain a clean and safe working environment by sweeping shop areas and following safety protocols. Communicate verbally with co-workers and rotate jobs as needed, including overtime on Fridays and occasionally Saturdays. Perform light to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds and operate overhead hoists. Work Monday through Thursday in four 10-hour shifts.

Required Qualifications

  • 1 or more years of relevant experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • Previous experience with basic hand tools
  • Ability to read blue prints
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment and machines
  • Ability to communicate verbally with co-workers
  • Ability to operate a variety of different machines and equipment
  • Ability to set up and prepare parts for cutting and milling operations
  • Ability to operate a computer for machine set up
  • Ability to load/unload materials into machines and equipment
  • Ability to read and apply measurements to parts and equipment
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints, schematic diagrams, etc.
  • Ability to read and interrupt job routings and paperwork
  • Ability to lift light and/or heavy parts on and off a cart, floor, shelf, etc.
  • Ability to use a cart to push/pull equipment and parts to and from designated areas
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks
  • Ability to assist co-workers with lifting parts
  • Ability to understand the differences in parts and tools
  • Ability to sweep and clean shop area
  • Ability to work overtime and rotate jobs as needed
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Ability to recognize and react to abnormal operating conditions
  • Ability to use and wear personal protective equipment as indicated by the task or environment
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and other co-workers
  • Ability to perform basic counting tasks
  • Ability to read tape measure, safety manuals, work orders, and blue prints effectively
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and other co-workers
  • Ability to understand and identify safety issues
  • Ability to maintain balance when walking and standing on potential slippery work floor
  • Ability to maintain balance when climbing on a portable step to retrieve parts
  • Ability to individually lift and manipulate parts/equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate an overhead hoist to assist with heavy lifting of parts, materials, and equipment
  • Ability to tolerate constant standing and walking throughout the shift
  • Ability to use both hands for tool and machine operation, carrying of parts, and assisting co-workers with heavy lifting of parts
  • Ability to operate and access heavy equipment safely and effectively
  • Ability to remember task sequence and safety constraints

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in metal fabrication
  • Previous experience as a Pierce as a Team Member or Contractor
