Job Summary
Read and understand banquet event orders to provide fine-dining-level food and beverage service. Setup and maintain food and beverage stations, manage inventory, and ensure all event areas remain tidy. Initiate friendly contact with guests to anticipate needs, reset spaces between events, and clean and store equipment appropriately. Work independently during slower times while maintaining a safe environment and responding to customer inquiries. This part-time role at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center offers a $14.00-$18.00 hourly rate, is tip eligible, and includes 401(k) matching. Experience in events or restaurants is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects often
- Ability to carry at least 8 entrees per tray
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and select holidays
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- Must be punctual with consistent attendance
- Must be able to respond to simple complaints or inquiries from customers
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent GED strongly preferred
- Equivalent experience may be substituted
- Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in events, banquets, or restaurants preferred
