Job Summary
Service guests in banquet dining and throughout the hotel by providing excellent professional and friendly customer service. Complete all side-work and cleaning duties as described in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while maintaining banquet storage areas, inspecting function spaces, and ensuring proper table settings and etiquette. Handle complaints, arbitrate disputes, and resolve grievances by working with guests to ensure satisfaction, taking initiative to get creative in resolving challenges. Foster good working relationships with Catering, Sales, Culinary, and other Banquet Team Members. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel, including evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
Required Qualifications
- Previous serving experience
- Ability to read and speak English and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees, guests and supervisors for optimum operation of the property
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues
- Convey information and ideas clearly
- Able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
- Capacity to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
- Capability to assimilate complex information and data from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by team members and guests
- Skilled at understanding financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions
- Individuals must be able to frequently lift/carry up to 25lbs
- Occasionally lift/carry up to 50lbs
- Following proper lifting procedures
- Must be able to stand for 8-hour shifts
- Must have organizational skills and quick decision making
- Vary schedule to include evenings, holidays and extended hours as business dictates
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Food Handlers Certification preferred
