Job Summary
Banquet Captain responsible for overseeing catering events and staff, coordinating planning and execution with the Catering Service Manager, preparing daily pull sheets and task sheets, supervising contracted wait staff and student/union employees, coordinating logistics and equipment, ensuring safety and sanitation, and delivering high-quality service at events in Nashville. Requires strong leadership, communication, training, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with ServSafe certification and a valid driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate’s degree preferred
- ServSafe certification within 3 months of hire and renewal every five years
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- At least 3 years of related catering/banquet experience
- At least 2 years offsite catering, restaurant, or specialty events experience preferred
- Experience as Banquet Manager or Banquet Captain preferred
- Ability to drive a catering van and a medium size box truck
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Food and Labor Management Systems
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to make on-site decisions to resolve problems
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service
- Ability to manage people and maintain confidentiality
- Proactive, energetic attitude and customer service focus
- Flexible, high-energy, and able to work in fast-paced environments
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Varied schedule willingness
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently lift/carry up to 30 lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 6 hours)
- Ability to bend/stretch/twist and lift
- Ability to transport hot food items safely
