Job Summary
Prepare bankruptcy legal filing documents and supporting materials in accordance with regulations, ensuring systems are updated and claim packages are submitted to attorneys for review. Manage the bankruptcy portfolio independently by reviewing debtor schedules, calculating fees, and processing referrals for orders, reaffirmation agreements, and plan confirmations. Handle inbound customer inquiries regarding bankruptcy matters while auditing attorney invoices and receiving dismissal or relief notices. Enter detailed notes on all actions, delays, and follow-ups into the system of record, and ensure completed files are audited and uploaded to the document retention system. Maintain payment application understanding and prepare monthly reports as requested by management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five years total work experience in positions with responsibility for processing mortgage foreclosures, associated documents and timelines
- At least one year experience with bankruptcies
- Notary Public License or obtained within six months of employment
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Basic math skills
- Highly proficient with data entry, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to work in an emotionally demanding role that requires patience and professionalism while interacting with consumers experiencing financial and emotional stress
- Prior experience using the internet to perform basic searches to obtain information
- 10-key by touch
- Prior experience using document retention software
- Blitzdoc /AIQ
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications
- Travel: 0%
- Work is primarily sedentary; occasionally walks and/or stands
- Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse
- Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation
- Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio
- Ability to adhere to process protocol
- Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner
- Work is primarily performed during the business week, Monday - Friday
- Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in the context of a workflow
- This role requires effective adaptation to workplace stressors, including customer service complaints, security responsibilities, and competing priorities
