Job Summary
Provide legal advice under English law for the Japanese corporate client business of Mizuho Bank Ltd., London Branch, Mizuho International plc, and Mizuho Bank Europe N.V. Support bilateral and syndicated loans, guarantees, and corporate transaction banking products while collaborating with front office, credit, risk, and operations teams. Back up Trade Finance matters including guarantees, letters of credit, and cash management. Advise Head Office in Tokyo on general English law matters and ensure external counsel is appropriately instructed and supervised. Maintain legal department records and support the manager in reviewing policies and playbooks annually.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor
- At least 3-4 years' PQE
- Experience gained through an international bank
- Experience gained through a law firm with a banking practice
- Experience gained through a combination of the two
- Strong technical expertise in corporate banking law and regulation
- Strong understanding of LMA
- Strong understanding of other relevant documentation frameworks
- Strong client service orientation
