Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate personalised nursing care for service users with brain injuries, sustaining admission and discharge processes while maintaining accurate records. Lead the care team by supervising Healthcare Assistants, demonstrating activities to new colleagues, and supporting volunteers and students. Manage the clinical area independently when the Senior Nurse is absent, taking charge of shift planning and allocating responsibilities. Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team, medical staff, and external departments to ensure continuity of care and communicate changes in service user conditions. Maintain stock control, order supplies, and act as an authorised signatory for timesheets while adhering to NMC guidelines and corporate policies.
Required Qualifications
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Completion of NMC Standards for Student Supervision and/or Assessment or willingness to complete training
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Knowledge of current legislation within the independent care sector
- Able to work both within a team and independently
- Able to implement and monitor clinical standards
- Able to actively support and participate in change
- Able to resolve problems and identify and implement solutions
- Good interpersonal skills
- Demonstrable skills in leadership and supervision
- Competent IT Skills
- Using own initiative in an unsupervised setting and actively supporting and participating in change
- Making judgements on problems requiring investigation, and analysis
- Working in a complex and stressful environment demonstrating effective and appropriate coping strategies
- Maintaining a safe working environment
- Maintain service user confidentiality
- Acting in accordance with all Brainkind policies and procedures
- Recognises and works within own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by the NMC
