Job Summary
Provide skilled scrub support during ophthalmic surgical procedures, preparing theatre instruments and anticipating team needs. Support patients throughout the peri-operative and post-operative pathway, assisting with safe preparation, handover, and discharge processes. Ensure accurate surgical documentation while following infection prevention and sterilisation procedures. Report incidents and equipment issues in line with policy, maintaining professional standards under NMC or HCPC requirements. Requires current registration, minimum one year theatre experience, and a valid UK driving licence. Based in Wetherby LS23, this role offers a competitive hourly rate up to £32.00 for a skilled multi-disciplinary team member in a specialist private eye care setting.
Required Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration
- Operating Department Practitioner with current HCPC registration
- A valid UK driving licence
- Access to your own transport
- A minimum of 1 year's theatre experience
- Previous scrub experience
- Flexibility to work bank shifts when required
- Ability to travel to other clinical sites if required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in general surgery, ophthalmology, day surgery or outpatient theatre settings
- Ophthalmic theatre experience
- Good understanding of infection prevention, theatre safety and clinical governance
- Awareness of CQC standards and relevant professional guidelines
- Strong communication skills
- A calm, professional approach
- Good IT and documentation skills
- Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
